Are You Feeling Stuck in Your Life?

Are You Feeling Stuck in Your Life?

Do you feel stuck in life? At times, we’ve all felt like we’re sinking deeper and deeper in the mud of life; you feel stuck, worthless and this causes confusion. We want to move, we know we should move, we feel that we have to move, but we just can’t. And then the anxiety, fear and overwhelm sets in.

It’s quite easy to get stuck in a rut. You have clear goals, but for some reason, you’re just not achieving these. Self-judgement may have crept in and you start to lower your expectations. Or, you have low self-worth, which is stopping you from making positive changes in your life. Worry and fear can keep you stuck and stop you from making a decision or changing something in your life. If things haven’t turned out how you expected or you’re disappointed, it can feel too hard to move forward.

Feeling stuck is a sign that it’s time to make a change. Changes can shake your patterns, create new energy, and change your outlook on life. If you are feeling stuck, then this means that something isn’t working for you anymore. This could be your job, your home life, your friendships or your hobbies. You see, if you’re not excited about those things anymore, now’s the time to finally do something to change it.

You need to let go of the past

Are you listening to the stories in your head, thinking about events that happened in the past? Maybe you keep blaming yourself or your family, friends or colleagues for things that didn’t turn out the way you had hoped or planned? Are you unable to forgive yourself for the mistake you made?

Take a moment and ask yourself why you are stuck on these memories and what you can do to accept them, live with them, and move forward. The key here is that you have a choice; you can’t undo the past, but you can choose to find peace and let it go. Forgiveness is a way to let go and move on, so just forgive yourself and others.

Changing your perspective

Changing your perspective is very powerful. Once you release your grip on the past, you will see your world and your reality in new ways and attain the freedom to change your attitude. Listen to your inner voice; you can do this just by sitting alone and you will gain a new perspective. Take a break from your daily routine to clear your head and get some distance from your current situation.

Be open to new people and new ideas. Introduce the three Pura Vida Your Life basic essentials into your daily routine; be active with physical exercise, eat healthy, nutritious food and keep hydrated, and get out into nature. All of these changes with help you to gain a new perspective on the future and what is possible for you and your life.

Small changes

Start with small changes. Did you know that change stimulates different parts of the brain that improve creativity and clarity in the mind, which are all important to becoming unstuck in life? Start small by changing your daily routines, maybe it’s time to declutter and make new friends? We often dismiss the little things, as they don’t seem important at that moment. But the important thing is the choices you are making, as every choice matters, no matter how small.

I promise you small changes make a big difference. After a while, you will see how those incremental steps start helping you to accomplish your goals, and you will feel yourself moving forward and feeling less stuck.

If you still feel stuck, then use these Golden Nuggets to help you get unstuck:

Golden Nuggets

1. Find your purpose

Have you ever considered your life purpose? Its more than just your job, your responsibilities, your role in your family life, or your goals. It’s what makes you feel alive and excited, the feeling of fire in your belly. The things that you are most passionate about and are willing to put every ounce of energy into and fight for.

You may need to change your life purpose if you are no longer feeling inspired by this. Or maybe you feel like you have no purpose; if that’s the case, then now’s a great time to define it.

Top Tip

Make some time for yourself. Get some paper and pens, take 3 deep breaths; in and out, and ask yourself these questions:

  • What makes me happy?
  • What were my favourite things I enjoyed in the past?
  • What are my favourite things I enjoy now?
  • When do I enjoy myself so much or become so committed to something that I lose track of time?
  • Who or what inspires me the most and why?
  • What makes me feel good about myself?
  • What am I good at?

Then let whatever thoughts come to you and write these down. You might get clarity on what you already know to be your true purpose or maybe you will be surprised at what comes up.

2. Believe in yourself

Self-belief is probably one of the most important beliefs to have when living a happy and fulfilled life. Trust that you can and will reach your expectations; the key here is to get out of your comfort zone. The problem is that people sabotage their own progress, either consciously or unconsciously, this comes from deep-rooted fears and limiting beliefs.

Top Tip

Get some paper and pens and make a list of your strengths and positive traits. Remember that you are very capable.

Recognise your self-doubt and the situations you find yourself in, and the way you react. Replace “I can’t” or “I don’t know” with “I can’t do that yet, but I’m working on it” or “I don’t know now, but I will”. This reframing is an important skill to learn, as you break free from your past and change your perspective.

3. Be Hopefull

Practice being hopeful. You may have had a lot of disappointments in your life that have led you to this moment where you now feel helpless. Sometimes, we are pessimistic to protect ourselves from being let down if things don’t turn out. You may have heard a saying, “if you hope for the worst, then you’ll never be disappointed, and you’ll have a nice surprise if things turn out for the best.” Well, ditch that!! It you expect the worst, then you know what – the more likely it is that the worst will happen to you.

Top Tip

Being hopeful takes practice and things that will help you are: a meditation, a prayer, reading inspirational books, reading positive statements. You will need to practice these regularly. Hope is not a permanent state; you need to work at it every day, so make it part of your daily routine and enjoy it.

So, let’s summarise those Golden Nuggets again:

  1. Find your purpose
  2. Believe in yourself
  3. Be hopeful
